How will this improve student learning and enhance your
classroom?
The English Language Arts classes require students to have
a book to participate in sustained silent reading. Currently reluctant readers
have a difficult time finding books to capture their interest and ones that are
easy enough to read. Having high interest/low reading level books with
contemporary stories in the high school media center will greatly enhance our
ability to capture the interest of reluctant readers and match them with a book.
What long term benefits will this give your
students?
The long term benefits for the students are tremendous.
When students are hooked into reading this helps them to become strong readers
and lifelong learners.
