In 1996, an Endowment fund was
established with the Allegan county Foundation.
The endowment fund is a permanent asset to the
Otsego educational community. Earnings generated
from the Endowment fund are dispersed every
year, and the principal remains intact for
future earnings.
Donations to the Allegan
County Foundation are tax deductible and may be
eligible for a Michigan Tax Credit of 50%,
maximum $200 credit. Consult your tax advisor.
Please note “OPS Foundation” on your
contribution so that it will be directed to the
appropriate account.
Check, Cash, Securities or
Pledge
A cash gift by check or a gift
of appreciated securities (bonds, shares,
stocks, etc.) is the most popular way to give.
Other donors may choose to pledge and make
payments during the year.
Gifts in Kind
Some donors may prefer to make
gifts equivalent to cash (gift in kind) such as
real estate, collections, paintings or other
personal property. Donors are entitled to a tax
deduction equal to the appraised value of the
property at the time of the gift.
Gifts to Honor or in Memorial
Gifts may be made to the
Otsego Public Schools Foundation in tribute to a
friend or in memory of a loved one. The
Foundation Board will notify the individual or
family of this generous gesture.
Planned Gifts
Those interested in leaving a
gift to the Otsego Public Schools Foundation by
will or bequest, or wanting information on
various charitable income-producing trust that
would decrease tax liability, are asked

held in strict confidence.
